PacEx 89 had some 54 vessels of U.S., Korean, Japanese, and Canadian origins—as well as a number of submarines that were never disclosed—combined forces to show just how outgunned Russia was in the Pacific and how they could operate together as a cohesive fighting force. Oct 5, 1993 - Shortly after VA-27 transitioned to the F/A-18A Hornet, the squadron's A-7's were ferried to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base aircraft boneyard. Two Royal Mace A-7E Corsair's sit in a line with other Navy and Air Force A-7's awaiting disposition.

Dec 99, 1993 - This A-7E is currently preserved at the Oakland Aviation Museum. It is shown in VA-27 markings from 1989, however it was never assigned to VA-27. (Image Source - Paul Seymour)

Former VA-27 A-7A Portugal Museum

Dec 99, 1993 - After serving as VA-27 Royal Mace A-7A NK-616 for over two years (1968-70) this bird went on to other Navy squadrons until 1978. She was then converted to a two seat TA-7P and sold to the Portugal Air Force as PoAF serial 5545 serving until 1995. She is now preserved in the Museum Do Ar in Portugal.
